Intel - 5 year Before & Now

Talking about a company that i work for is usually a morale boost since we are seing state of the art which has never been shown to any body alive outside of the company.

We will be looking into things that will be changing the world within 2 years in present time.
but this article is trying to change the talk from the common Technical to a Management direction from our CEO quotes

in May 2005, Intel has choosen Paul S. Otellini as Intel New President & Chief Executive Officer replacing Craig Barret.
if you can recall the previous Generation of Intel Logo (Drop e)
was change to the intel with a circle
is one of the things which is coming from Paul.
(i remember this since i'm working @ intel for my internship during this period)

Frankly speaking, i'm really skeptical when i first heard that Intel is selling their "Non Intel Silicon" Business to others such as their Communication unit was sold to marvel, stopping producing Xscale (which is ARM based) and the official statement from Intel:-

"Intel's sale of its chip business for mobile handhelds and" cell phones, which had been rumored in recent months, is intended to enable the company to get back to basics. The sale will also remove a business that struggled to take off and has weighed down the company's overall financial performance, despite billions of dollars in investments. "

--------------------------------------------Now-------------------------------------------

And now after 5 years Paul make those decision, it seem that Intel has turn back to the diluted mix of many-many-many things which includes software, Communication, compiler and many more other stuff that does not make sense such as purchasing McAfee...

the question that i want to ask our VPs CEO, CxO is that, why change direction like the wind?
i believe that a decision of making that swing to the current might not be match with the "Sponsor of tomorrow" & if the direction swing just like what is needed in the market & how do they feel like, then might as well change our says to "Following the trend" or something like that...

though i'm not trained to think like those at the top & maybe what they think is something beyond what i see...

but from this fresh Engineer Point of view,
Intel is backing down from their own plan...
our Direction 5 years ago is still the same....
with a 5 year gap in between...
and billions of money Spent in purchase instead of R&D
